TGOF: Thank God On Friday

This has been a TOUGH week. I have had some sad posts, even more sad thoughts, cried A LOT, prayed even more, and have been in just a general surreal daze emotionally. I unloaded that statement to say I think today's list should be the simpler things. Looking at the smaller, simpler, physical things around me that I'm thankful for helps me get through tough times. So not to go too holiday on you, but here are a few of my favorite things:

  1. Cold left over pizza for lunch, which by the way is what is sitting next to the keyboard waiting for me when I finish this post
  2. Sweet Tea, I don't even want to know how many gallons I've consumed in a life time. They say in considering the entire human body it's approximately 60% water. I bet mine is more like 60% sweet Lipton tea!
  3. COFFEE, could not function with out the morning cups of coffee. Maybe all my fluid isn't tea after all... it's part coffee too. See a caffeine pattern?
  4. My kids laughing! It's one of the few sounds that no matter how terrible I feel, I smile.
  5. The spot between Big Daddy's shoulders. There's probably a medical term for that area so if any one reads this and knows it feel free to share, but for now it's just my spot. People he has BIG shoulders. I absolutely LOVE to just lean my head on this little space between his shoulder blades. I can hear him breath. I can hear his heart beat. When he talks in his deep voice the sound vibrates his back. Also I fit perfectly in this space. It's like my docking station. When I get just a moment to be there, I feel recharged.
  6. Speaking of docking... my iPod. It's a handy little device! And mine is a couple years old... maybe three actually. But it's got some oldies, lots of goodies, and just my eclectic collection of music. Everything from "Favorite Children's Songs" for car trips with the kids, to Eric Clapton, every woman needs a little Aretha Franklin, to Nickleback to Martina McBride.
  7. Clean sheets. They just feel cooler, smoother, fresher.
  8. Outside playtime. Some days I am sooooo ready to just set those little wild kiddos loose on our big yard! It's great for them and for Mommy too! Fresh air, I get to just play too, and I walk around part of the property to get a little exercise.
  9. Hot Baths! They help melt away a lot of stress. If I were a millionaire I would have a "hot tub" the size of a pool in my bathroom!!
  10. Decluttering. Spell check is reminding me that this is a Redism. It's something I've been into lately. My husband and I can be little pack rats about some things, and lately I've been picking a spot at a time to declutter. Today it was the medicine cabinet/baskets. I threw away old stuff and organized it all into the cabinet, and felt so much better to see it all put away and easy to find.
Well ten is a nice even number to end with. Have a great weekend all!
