Hello blog! You were not forgotten, just shelved a little while things are still being repaired. We are getting close to being able to be back in our home, then other repairs will continue outside. Now, on to what I had on my mind...
Why does it take you so long to get ready? What have you done today? Why aren't you ready to go yet? Ever had those annoying questions posed to you or others like it? Well here's my example/answer to them.
Wake up, kids are still sleeping... Yes! Grab a shower while you can. Get out of shower, kids are up. Potty for one, diaper change for the other. Pick out clothes for kids. Of course my Princess has to go through several options... Finally they are dress. Mommy? Still in my house dress/robe thing, wet hair, no make up. Pull wet hair back, have to start breakfast. Biscuits in the oven, bacon in the pan. Cooking..... Big Daddy gets home from a double shift. Baby where's my coveralls? I need my uniform for tomorrow could you be sure to wash that today? Kids want drinks. Fix drinks. Fry eggs. Sit to breakfast... hair still wet, no make up, still in robe. Eat. Big Daddy leaves for work. Clean up breakfast, do dishes. Ok... finally gonna dry my hair. Start drying. Halfway through "Mom! Can we watch a movie?" Ok stop drying walk around with red fuzz ball hair to get dvd case, let kids pick out movie. Start movie. Go back to drying hair. Just turned on the dryer "MOM! The movie isn't working!" Stop. Pull out movie to reveal a gillion sticky finger prints on movie. Clean disc. Start movie again. Blow dry hair. Finally finish. Put on facial lotion to start make up, hear cat make a terrible meow-y screechy sound. Discover cat cornered by the Prince with a toy truck. He's trying to make the cat "play trucks" by driving the truck on the cat's back. Rescue terrified cat, explain to Prince we can't play trucks with cats. Start make up. Hear Princess cry. So with mineral foundation and one eye with mascara, find that she bumped her head trying to climb onto bar chair at the kitchen. Kiss it make it better. Return to make up. Slap on the rest of the make up so fast a NASCAR crew would be impressed. Now, time to tame the hair. Chi on... Prince under the bed trying to get cat to come out to play... Get Prince out from under bed. Explain the cat will come out when she is ready and is probably still scared by the trucks. Iron hair. Throw on shirt and shorts, this would probably qualify for a "What not to Wear" makeover. *Sigh* Mommy is dress. Now time to do the chores and take on what's left of the day.
One of the joys of being a mother, it's NEVER dull.
