Something I'm thankful for.... I sat down to blog up my Friday list and a list didn't come to mind. I watched a movie recently that got me to think'n, I know that's dangerous! It wasn't a great movie either. It was an okay, sweet movie that wasted an hour and half that I just didn't want to do anything else with. Dear John. If you have seen this movie you know what I'm talking about. It's a simple sweet movie. If you have not seen it the story line is this; He is a special forces solider, army green beret home on his two week leave his name is John. She is a college student on spring break, Savannah. They fall in love, I'll stop there to keep from ruining it for anyone who might want to watch for themselves. The big thing is they write each other constantly. This simple little movie pulled on a particular heartstring for me. Watching him read his letters all over the world and post 9/11 I could picture my Big Daddy doing the same thing since we wrote often. Made me reflect a little, and that dominoed or "monkey jumped" as my mother calls it to this.
The man my father worked for, for many years said something like this once about age: When you're aging it's not that you can't remember. It's that life is like growing an encyclopedia. As you get older your volumes get bigger and greater in number. It's not that I can't remember, it's that I have more to look through to find the answer. Today I am thankful for my encyclopedia. All the way from Birth Volume 1 to Today on page number who knows on Volume Late Twenties. The pages contain wonderful things, things I'm not so proud of, and not too happy things. "Great people" write their memoirs, some that in my opinion are not so great. Couldn't we all write a book or many books more like an encyclopedia of our lives. I'm thankful for all my pages and volumes and I'm excited to see how many more pages and volumes God will provide me and what they may contain.
