A Poem From a Holiday Worrier:

Twas the Night Before My Breakdown
By: Red

Twas the night before my holiday nervous breakdown,
when I pace all through the house
I was the only creature stirring. No one else dare!
The twitch I develop each year making sure all is perfect,
All done with great care
In hopes that the perfect holiday will soon be there

The children were nested all snug in their beds,
While I wrapped and fretted and on the wall pounding my head.
And this mama with her sweet tea in hand,
Had just settled my brain to gather herself and feel a little sane.

When out of the laundry room there arose such a clatter!
I sprang from the chair to see what else was the matter
Away to the washer, pulling down my night gown so not to flash
I open the laundry room door and threw up my hands

The washer was running with wash powder fluttering like snow
Gave cleanliness to all objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh pulled by eight tiny Dust Busters

With a little lovely driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St.Neat!
More rapid than eagles her coursers they came,
And she whistled and shouted and called them by name!

Now Oxi Clean! Now Clorox! Now Lysol and Bleach'n!
On Comet! On Hoover! On Pledge and Scotch Brite!
To the top of the fans! To the bottoms of the walls!
Now wash away! Wash away! Wash away all!

As the dryer whirled and the vacuum ran like a hurricane flies,
Then they meet with an obstacle, mount laundry I call it
So up to the top the coursers they flew,
With their sleigh full of cleaners and St. Neat too

And then, with a twinkle I heard on the floors
The prancing and scrubbing of each little one.
As I drew in the sight, and was turning around
Down I went with a bound.

She was dressed all in swiffer, from head to her foot.
And her clothes were not tarnished. I sank to her foot.
A bundle of nerve I had flung on my back.
And she looked at me with her cleaning stash.

Her eyes gave a twinkle. Her dimples so merry!
Her cheeks were like roses, her nose a little cherry.
Her mouth drew up like a little Christmas bow.
And she placed her hand on my chin to say
"Calm down this Christmas babe!"

She hurried and scrubbed, a right jolly helper
And I laughed when I saw it all, in spite of my fears
A wink from her eye and twist of lemon to my drink
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

She spoke not another word, but went on with her work
And filled all the air with freshest scents
Then turned and laid her finger aside her nose,
And giving a nod back to her sleigh she rose!

She sprang to her sleigh gave her team a whistle
And away they all flew!
But I heard her exclaim as she drove out of sight
"Clean laundry for all! From the Cleaning Fairy! Now Goodnight!"

Just a fun little something for everyone to get a holiday giggle. I'm the type that usually frets too much around the holidays and gets wound too tight. Enjoy! Relax and have a happy holiday everyone!
